Situated on the south-western tip of Africa, Cape Town is widely regarded as one of the most beautiful and diverse cities in the world, boasting a rich past, stunning location, and a host of city attractions.

Many years ago, Cape Town acted as a vital stop-off point for trading boats travelling the spice route to and from Asia, and its heritage as a vibrant market town and harbour is still apparent to this day. Boats enter the harbour and disappear over the horizon daily bringing in fresh catches, and busy fruit markets contrast with the up-market designer stores and bustling shopping complexes on the V&A Waterfront. The British and Portuguese colonial presence can be easily seen in much of the stunning architecture that pervades the city.

Despite being the legislative capital of South Africa, Cape Town carries a laid back atmosphere of the sort that is rare to find in most major capitals, inviting you to relax and enjoy yourself while taking in the many attractions that the city and the surrounding region has to offer.

Cape Town is as well known for its scenery as it is for its city attractions. The city is cradled on three sides by the stunning behemoth of a peak, Table Mountain, and open to the vast Indian Ocean on the other side. This ideal location gives you access to the coast, rocky mountain terrain, and, further inland, the beautiful Winelands and the famous Garden Route. Situated at the end of the Western Point, Cape Town is the perfect starting or finishing point to a tour of Southern Africa.

The V&A is a popular attraction and home to a number of shops, cafés and restaurants. The Greenmarket Square is one of many vibrant markets, and there are a number of art and antique shops scattered around the city.

Most visitors like to hike up Table Mountain or take the cable car to see the magnificent views from the peak. Cape Point is another popular attraction that also boasts some stunning views. You may also like to take a boat trip to Robben Island, explore the Kirstenbosch botanical gardens, or just take in the many sights around Cape Town.

For the more active, there is a host of biking and hiking routes, water sports and adrenalin activities available in the region surrounding Cape Town.
