Additional Information

Visa Requirements

You must have a passport which is valid for a minimum period of 6 months from the date of entry into Zambia and which has 2 blank pages.

UK and US citizens need a visa to enter Zambia. These may be obtained before travel from the Zambian High Commission, 2 Palace Gate, London W8 5NG (Tel: 020 7589 6655; Email: info@zambiahc.org.uk), or from the Zambian embassy in your home country.

Single and double entry visit visas are available on arrival, but multi-entry visas are not.

The visa fees are currently: Single Entry: £35 (USD50) Double Entry: £60 (USD80). If purchasing your visa on arrival you should carry the correct amount in USD – change may not be given.

As of 1 December 2014, a new UNIVISA system has been implemented at Zambian/Zimbabwean borders. This means that visitors can visit both countries while holding only one valid visa. This applies to all countries that currently require visas for both countries (including the UK). The new visa, which is to be called the ‘Kaza’ visa, is available at Livingstone and Lusaka airports and the border posts at Victoria Falls and Kazungula. It costs $50 and is valid for 30 days.

If you are travelling to Zambia via South Africa you may need a South African transit visa. These must be purchased in advance. UK citizens do not currently need a transit visa but many other nationals, including US and some European citizens, do need a transit visa. We advise all travellers to check before travelling.

If you are spending any time in South Africa you must have 2 blank passport pages opposite each other to enter the country. If travelling to South Africa from Zambia you will also need to have a yellow fever certificate.

Everything went according to plan, in fact there wasn't a single hitch, so well done for that!
