Kwando Lagoon Camp

Kwando Reserve

Kwando Lagoon Camp

Kwando Lagoon Camp is one of only two camps in Kwando Reserve, Botswana's largest private game concession, located in the Linyanti region between Chobe and the Okavango.

Kwando Lagoon enjoys a marvellous location on the banks of the Kwando River, hidden away beneath a canopy of ancient marula trees. It is one of only two camps in the remote Kwando Game Reserve (the other being its sister camp, Lebala), which is just north of the Okavango in the Linyanti region.

As well as being Botswana's largest game reserve, Kwando is also one of the most scenically spectacular. It is a wonderfully varied region of vast floodplains and dense woodland, fed by the Kwando, Linyanti and Chobe Rivers. Wildlife viewing is as good at Kwando as anywhere in the Delta, with the area noted particularly for its huge elephant and buffalo populations, as well as its resident wild dog, which are known to den in the region (the denning season is June to July).

Kwando Lagoon Camp is open all-year round. The dry months (June to Oct) are the best time to visit this region, but there are also excellent deals to be had during the green season.

Accommodation

There are 8 guest chalets at Kwando Lagoon Camp. These are permanent structures, with thatched roofs, canvas sides and mesh windows, raised on wooden decking and accessed via sliding doors. Inside the tents are attractively furnished, with large double beds, wooden trunks, and director's chairs. All of Kwando's tents overlook the lagoon.

One of the tents at Lagoon Camp is a family unit, with an extra bedroom.

At the heart of the camp is a double-storey thatched building that functions as the dining area, lounge and library, and which connects to a viewing deck overlooking the river and a small pool. We are in the process of updating our image library to reflect these changes.

Dining

Tasty meals are served in the thatched dining area overlooking the lagoon or outside on the deck when the weather allows. Meals are typically served around a communal table, but private dining is available on request.
