3 Nagas

One of Luang Prabang’s original boutique lodges, 3 Nagas occupies three restored, World Heritage listed French villas on Sakkaline Street, in the heart of old Luang Prabang.

3 Nagas is a beautiful French-style auberge located on Sakkaline Street, close to the heart of Luang Prabang’s French Quarter, and about 5-10 minutes’ walk from the night market. This is a quiet but central location, on the same road that Luang Prabang’s famous alms-gathering ceremony takes place each morning.

3 Nagas occupies three separate buildings—each of them a UNESCO World Heritage listed French colonial villa that has been carefully restored—on either side of Sakkaline Street. One building houses the hotel restaurant, another the lobby and four of the guestrooms, and the last the garden and the remaining guestrooms.

Luang Prabang is not short of beautiful boutique hotels and guesthouses, but 3 Nagas stands out as one of the very best. It was among the first hotels of its kind to open in town, and enjoys a marvellous location, conveniently close to the town centre but just far enough from the night market to ensure peace and quiet. The three UNESCO World Heritage buildings it occupies are each over 100 years old, and present a striking mix of French and Lao design combined with contemporary décor.

Accommodation

3 Nagas offers 15 rooms and suites, divided between two of the buildings on either side of Sakkaline Street. The rooms are all individually decorated, though incorporate a similar blend of handcrafted rosewood furniture (including beautiful canopy beds) and more modern features and light fittings.

The rooms at the back of Khamboua House overlook the garden and the Nam Khan River, and are generally preferable to the rooms facing the street (though these rooms do have the advantage of providing a direct view of the famous Tak Bet alms ceremony from their balconies). All rooms are equipped with air-con, Wi-Fi and safety deposit boxes (no TVs).

Dining

The main dining spot, the 3 Nagas Restaurant, is a two-storey townhouse and serves authentic Laotian cuisine with a French twist. 3 Mangos offers al fresco dining on the terrace, and serves a variety of Asian and Western food. Breakfast (continental) is typically served here.

Facilities

-    Restaurants and bar
-    Gift shop
-    Guests can use the pool and spa at sister accommodation Hotel de la Paix

Child Policy

3 Nagas has no age restrictions.

Note that there are few facilities for children. One of the larger resorts situated outside Luang Prabang's old quarter, for instance Hotel de la Paix, would perhaps be a better fit for families travelling with young children, particularly if a swimming pool is wanted.

Children under the age of twelve stay free of charge if sharing a room.
