Day 1: Arrive Maun
You will be met on arrival at Maun Airport and transferred to a local lodge (Maun Lodge, or similar).
Evening at leisure, and to meet with the rest of the group as they arrive.
Day 2-4: Okavango Delta
Today will see you journey into what is undoubtedly Botswana’s most famous wilderness area, the Okavango Delta (75km, 2½ hours).
At the southern reaches of the Delta, you’ll swap the vehicle for a mokoro boat and spend a leisurely day exploring the waterways of the Delta with experienced polers from the local community. Quietly drifting through papyrus swamps and reed-lined lagoons of the Delta in your dugout canoe, you’ll gain a real appreciation for this most unique environment.
This evening, set up wild camp on a small island.
The next two days will be spent exploring the Delta via mokoro boat tours and island walking safaris, allowing you to discover the region in depth.
NB. On day 2, you will leave your main bag with the vehicles and carry only a small pack with your essentials on to the island, as the transfer canoes cannot carry large cases. On day 4, you’ll move to a new campsite on the edge of a lagoon.
Day 5-7: Moremi Game Reserve
Pack up camp and travel into Moremi Game Reserve, the public reserve at the heart of the Delta. This is a drive of approx. 90km, though you’ll make the journey at a slow pace as there will be lots of game-viewing opportunities en route!
This afternoon, you’ll set up camp in a community campsite located within the Khwai region, from where you’ll spend the next three days exploring Moremi’s vast grasslands on morning and afternoon game drives. During these three days, you may change campsite to allow you to explore different regions of Moremi and the Khwai concession.
Moremi is considered by many to be the most exceptional area of the Delta region, where all the major habitats and eco-zones of the Okavango are conserved.
Day 8-10: Chobe National Park
Continue your journey north-east, travelling into Chobe National Park (120km, 7-8 hour transfer with game drive).
You’ll spend the next three days exploring the Park, starting in the dry and arid Savuti region, where bull elephants roam the plains, before heading north east to the Chobe River, where your game drives will follow a meandering course along the banks of the river.
Camping will be in private campsites with bush ablutions, first in the region of Savuti then closer to the riverfront in northern Chobe. Activities will include motorboat safaris and 4x4 game drives.
Day 11: Victoria Falls
After a morning game drive in Chobe, journey via Kasane to the Zimbabwe border at Kazungula.
After completing the border formalities, continue to Victoria Falls, where you check-in at a comfortable lodge for one night (dinner to own account).
This afternoon, there will be time to visit the Victoria Falls, before returning to your hotel – please note that the entrance fee is payable locally.
The rest of your stay is at leisure. There are a number of activities available at Victoria Falls, from white water rafting and canoeing in the Zambezi Gorge to microlight flights over the Falls, short safaris into Zambezi National Park, and evening river cruises. Activities can be arranged locally or in advance.
Day 12: International departure
Your tour ends this morning. A transfer to Victoria Falls Airport will be included on the morning of your departure.
