Xaranna Camp

Xaranna is an intimate safari camp situated within a private concession in the heart of the Delta. Small and exclusive, Xaranna offers peace and privacy and a wonderful location from which to explore the waterways of the Okavango.

Xaranna Okavango Delta Camp is a small, permanent camp located within a private wilderness reserve of 270,000ha in the heart of the Delta. Like its sister camp, Xudum, Xaranna occupies its own private island amid the lagoons, channels and floodplains, and is reachable only by boat during high season. This isolation, combined with its small size, gives Xaranna camp a highly intimate atmosphere, though it does also limit the available activities – this is not big game territory and game drives are restricted due to the lack of permanent dry land. For those after a more exclusive retreat, however, the upmarket Xaranna is among the best options in the Okavango Delta; here you can explore the idyllic waterways of the Okavango in peace and privacy, perfect as a relaxing coda to a busy game safari in Moremi or Chobe!

Accommodation

Xaranna Lodge centres on a tented pavilion raised on wooden decking, which functions as the lounge and dining area. Around this are nine guest tents, all positioned to make the most of the views of the Okavango waterways. The canvas tents are organic in design, and exceptionally spacious. Sliding front doors open onto an extended foyer, partitioned off from the main bedroom by a wooden screen. The rooms are equipped with four-poster beds, air-con, writing desks, safes and private plunge pools. Washing facilities include an indoor bath and outdoor shower.

Dining

Share stories with other guests around a roaring fire in the open-air boma, or enjoy an intimate meal in the raised dining room overlooking the waters of the Okavango. Breakfast is a buffet of cereals, fruit and fresh breads, or cooked ‘full-English’ if preferred. Dinners are 3-course affairs with a selection of menus—fish, meat, and vegetarian—and wines.
