Tukul Village

Situated within walking distance of Lalibela’s famous rock churches, Tukul Village is the region’s best hotel, offering comfortable accommodation and attentive service.

Situated on the doorstep of Lalibela’s famous rock churches, Tukul Village is the region’s best hotel, offering comfortable accommodation and reliably good service. It features just 12 sandstone huts, or ‘tukuls’, designed to resemble traditional African rondavels. The rooms and public areas are very simply furnished, but their unique design gives Tukul Village a bit of character, which other hotels in the region lack. The atmosphere is relaxed, and the service consistently good, making Tukul our preferred hotel in the Lalibela region.

Accommodation

Tukul Village offers 12 two-storey red sandstone huts, each containing two rooms. The rooms are largely identical in size and furnishings. All have floor-to-ceiling windows and private balconies/terraces, and most enjoy a view of Lalibela’s most famous church, Bet Giorgis. They are fully en-suite with tiled bathrooms equipped with walk-in showers and hot running water.

Dining

Tukul Village is booked on a B&B basis. There’s a small bar and restaurant serving a daily breakfast of cooked eggs, Ethiopian injera alongside cereals, toast and jam. Lunch and dinner menus are available.
