Tintswalo at Waterfall

Tintswalo at Waterfall is a unique, equestrian-themed lodge set on a private 200 hectare estate in outer Johannesburg, Gauteng.

Set on a 200 hectare plot of private land in outer Johannesburg, Tintswalo at Waterfall is a unique lodge with an equestrian theme. It has been designed to resemble a large country barn, complete with thick stone walls, galvanized steel frames and heavy bolted timber roof trusses. The equestrian theme is apparent throughout the lodge, with each of its suites individually decorated so as to reflect the character of a specific breed of horse. It may sound a bit contrived, but the lodge is very comfortable, and has a genuinely rustic feel, however artificial.

Guests at Tintswalo at Waterfall enjoy access to the huge Waterfall Country & Equestrian Estate, which provides the ideal environment for a leisurely walk – a 3 mile walking trail covers the perimeter of the estate. And for those less inclined to activity, there’s a spa, pool and sauna on-site. There’s also a golf course close to the hotel, and central Johannesburg isn’t far away, with all its charms.

Accommodation

There are sixteen rooms at Tintswalo at Waterfall, each of which has been individually decorated with a particular breed of horse as its chosen theme. This running horse theme lends the rooms a quirky character, though it's not taken to excess – the different horse breeds are mostly reflected in the colour of the décor. (That and the rather grave-looking horse portraits that hang over the beds.)

Every suite has its own private balcony, lounge, satellite TV, Wi-Fi connection, bathroom with bath and shower, air-conditioning, twin or double beds, tea/coffee facilities and minibar.

Dining

Tintswalo's dining room has outside and inside seating and serves breakfast, lunch and dinner (must be booked in advance). Horse does not feature on the menu.

Tintswalo is booked on a B&B basis.
