The Plettenberg

Garden Route, South Africa

The Plettenberg

The Plettenberg Hotel is an early 20th-century country home turned luxury resort, with a striking cliff-top location overlooking the bay and town of the same name.

Built on a dramatic headland with stunning beaches either side, this palatial mansion is one of South Africa’s finest hotels. Developed at the turn of the century as a stately home in an exclusive setting, the Plettenberg offers its guests first class service, lavish accommodation and striking vistas of the sea, mountains and beach.

The Plettenberg is located close to the many attractions of Plettenberg town and serves as a convenient stop-off point for those travelling South Africa’s famous Garden Route, particularly those wanting to view the marine migration.

Along with its sister properties, Cellars-Hohenort and the Marine Hermanus, the Plettenberg is part of the McGrath Collection.

Accommodation

The Plettenberg offers 37 luxury rooms and suites, as well as a separate self-catering Beach House. Most of the rooms offer a view of the sea. The twelve Premier and Luxury suites have a separate lounge and bedroom and balconies overlooking the ocean. All rooms are furnished to five-star standard and have underfloor heating.

The Plettenberg Hotel's first-rate restaurant, Sand at the Plettenberg, is open for breakfast, lunch, tea and dinner and offers modern South African and global cuisine, excellent wine, and views of Formosa Bay.
