Singita Sweni Lodge

Singita Sweni Lodge enjoys a fine location on the banks of the Sweni River, in the remote Lebombo Concession of the Kruger National Park. Like most Singita lodges, it is modern, stylish and very intimate.

Singita Sweni Lodge occupies a beautiful forested location on the edge of the Sweni River, in the heart of the Lebombo concession of the Kruger National Park, one of the most pristine wilderness areas in South Africa. Lebombo is a small concession (15,000 hectares), but with only two lodges it attracts a fraction of the visitors of the Kruger’s better known private reserves. The Lebombo mountain range and the Sweni and N’wanetsi Rivers cut across the concession, contributing to its varied landscapes. The ‘big 5’, including black rhino, thrive here in healthy numbers.

Sweni Lodge is the sister lodge to nearby Singita Lebombo, which occupies a more prominent position on the banks of the N’wanetsi River. Small and secluded, Sweni isn’t as immediately eye-catching as Lebombo, but its more intimate atmosphere makes it our preferred choice of the two. Like Lebombo, Sweni has a decidedly modern aesthetic, employing the same wood and glass panel design as its sister camp. The interiors are beautifully furnished.

Singita Sweni is one of the most impressive luxury lodges in the Greater Kruger. Though it is hardly a traditional bush lodge, we find it to be a welcome change from the generic stone-and-thatch design that is so common in the Kruger and elsewhere in South Africa. Of course, those looking for a pure game-viewing experience may find Singita Sweni, with its luxury air-conditioned suites, its spa and gym, to be rather excessive. But for those wanting a bit of extra pampering, it’s perfect. The game viewing's not bad either!

Accommodation

Singita Sweni Lodge has just six air-conditioned riverside suites. They are stylish, modern units with glass panel walls that make the most of the impressive views. Inside, the rooms are hugely spacious, featuring a generous bedroom and lounge, outdoor game-viewing deck, large en-suite bathroom with outdoor shower. They offer a level of luxury and comfort not usually associated with a safari lodge, even a luxury bush lodge such as this.

Dining

Singita Sweni offers fine dining on the timber-deck overlooking the Sweni River. There is a stylish bar and open outdoor boma. The menus are fixed, but always creative. Dietary requirements will be catered for, though do remember to give advance notice.

The wine cellar boasts a good selection of predominantly South African wines.
