Serian Serengeti Camp

Serian Serengeti Camp is a small mobile camp with a luxurious edge. It shifts locations between the northern and southern regions of the Serengeti throughout the year so as to track the great migration.

Serian Safaris earned their reputation with their upmarket Kenyan bush camps, which successfully combined high-end luxury with an authentic bush experience. Serian Serengeti Camp seeks to replicate this success in Tanzania. The result is one of the best small luxury camps in the Serengeti.

Serian Serengeti Camp is a mobile camp that shifts location between the far northern and southern regions of the Serengeti. Between June and November it operates as Serengeti North Camp (or Serian Kogatende) in the Kogatende region, close to the Mara River. This is perfect for viewing the great migration and the famous Mara River crossings. During much of the rest of the year, the camp relocates to Kakessio, in the southern reaches of the Serengeti, offering a chance to see the wildebeest and zebra herds as they congregate in the southern reaches of the park at the start of the safari season.

As a mobile camp, Serian Serengeti doesn't offer the facilities of a permanent lodge (no pool and spa), but it’s very much a luxury camp, with large, beautifully-furnished tents and the highest standards of service. The real highlight, of course, is the game-viewing. Serian Camps are always positioned in remote spots away from the crowds, and Serian Serengeti is no exception. More importantly, it offers a more or less year-round window onto the migration. Game activities at Serian Serengeti are intended to be as flexible as possible. All guests/groups are allocated a dedicated guide and vehicle on arrival, and are free to plan their days as they please, without being bound to the rigid schedules and shared vehicles that are a feature of so many safari camps.

Accommodation

Serian Serengeti Camp has just eight tents. These are classic Meru-style safari tents, furnished in a tasteful style, with thick rugs, comfortable double beds, and bergere chairs. All tents have connecting private bathrooms, with flush toilets and bucket showers (hot water is provided on demand).

Tents can be converted into family units on request.

For a real bush experience, Serian also offer a 4-tent mobile campsite – Serengeti Kusini Camp. The location of Kusini allows for walking safaris and off-road driving which is a huge advantage in the Serengeti. Kusini is perfect for guests who really want top class guiding in a remote, game-rich location. If time allows, combining both camps will ensure a fantastic safari away from the crowds.

Dining

The main tent functions as the lounge and dining area, and is furnished with plush sofas, coffee tables, floor cushions and handwoven rugs. Meals are served by candlelight around a communal table. Expect delicious three-course dinners and generous cooked breakfasts. Lunch is served in the lodge or taken as a picnic while out on game activities.

The region of the Serengeti you explore will depend on the time of year that you visit. Between June and November, the camp is located in Kogatende, in the north of the Serengeti, which provides easy access to the Mara River, and a window onto the famous wildebeest and zebra crossings. During the rest of the year, the camp operates as Serian South in Kakessio, in the southern Serengeti, a region notable for its wild dog sightings and where the migratory herds come to calve in the early months of the year.
