Ras Kutani is a secluded resort set on a crescent of white sand beach some 35km south of Dar es Salaam. Remote and isolated, Ras Kutani offers what is an increasingly precious commodity - a long stretch of wild coastline away from the more crowded beach resorts of Zanzibar. Access to Ras Kutani is by private boat - a quiet lagoon separates the lodge from the mainland.

With its thatched guest areas and charming cottages, Ras Kutani more closely resembles a safari lodge than a typical beach retreat. It is the sister property to Siwandu and Jongomero safari camps and shares with them the same rustic, barefoot luxury style.

Accommodation

Ras Kutani houses its guests in nine spacious en-suite cottages and four Upepo suites, constructed from natural materials that harmonise perfectly with the wild coastal surroundings. Traditional Swahili furnishings give the rooms a bit of colour. Each cottage opens onto a verandah with sea views.

The suites are set apart from the main lodge, perched on a forested hill providing for a more private atmosphere, not to mention wonderful views of the ocean. They feature king-size beds and private plunge pools.
