Meno A Kwena Tented Camp

Meno A Kwena Tented Camp is situated on the high cliffs overlooking the dry Boteti river, on the very edge of the western boundary of Makgadikgadi Pans National Park.

Meno A Kwena Tented Camp is situated on a rocky ridge overlooking the dry Boteti river, on the very edge of the Makgadikgadi Pans. This location offers wonderful game-viewing. Southern Africa’s largest remaining zebra and wildebeest herds migrate within the Makgadikgadi and Nxai Pans ecosystem, arriving in the rainy season when the dry pans briefly fill with water. The camp is situated in the midst of this traditional migration route, and sees plentiful wildlife, particularly during the green season.

During the dry season (May to November) the pools around the riverbed provide the only source of water for much of the zebra and wildebeest. Resident and migratory wildlife around Meno A Kwena also includes elephant, lion, monkey, giraffe, wild dog and myriad bird species, which are drawn to the waterhole 100 feet below the camp. Birding is excellent year-round but bird varieties increase and breeding starts during the summer months (September to May).

Activities available at Meno A Kwena include game drives, walking safaris, trips to Nxai Pan, Baines Baobabs and the Central Kalahari Game Reserve, quad biking and kite sailing in Gweta village, drives and picnics in Makgadikgadi National Park.

Accommodation

Meno A Kwena offers eight mini Meru walk-in tents furnished with two single safari beds. Each tent has a bucket shower and flush toilet, which are private but not ensuite (they are situated just a few steps away from your tent). Showering under an open Kalahari sky filled with stars or alive with the traffic of riverine birds is a true experience!

The camp has a small plunge pool.

Dining

Meals at Meno A Kwena are prepared especially for the barbeque and 'tin box oven', and then cooked around the campfire, adding to the authentic bush safari experience.
