Mbuzi Mawe Tented Camp

Mbuzi Mawe Tented Camp is medium-size bush camp located right in the heart of the Serengeti, on a main migration route close to the game-rich areas of Seronera and Grumeti.

Mbuzi Mawe Tented Camp is situated in the heart of the Serengeti, close to the game-rich Seronera Valley and the Western Corridor. This is one of the busiest areas of the Park, both in terms of wildlife and visitors, but the game is superb and the views stunning. Mbuzi Mawe also has the advantage of being located on one of the main migration corridors.

Mbuzi Mawe is a fairly small camp, with just sixteen tents. It is part of the Serena chain of East African hotels, though it is much more intimate in character than most other Serena resorts, which tend to be large and impersonal. The decor and overall ambience is that of a traditional bush camp, though Mbuzi Mawe is a comfortable camp with modern facilities including 24 hour electricity and constant hot running water.

We like Mbuzi Mawe. The location is great for game-viewing (though do note that this region of the park can be very busy), and though some may be turned off by the fact that it is run by a hotel chain, Mbuzi Mawe's small size and friendly service gives it a personal, relaxed feel.

NB. Mbuzi Mawe has plans to expand in the coming years, adding a swimming pool and additional tents. We will update this page as we hear of any changes.

Just 16 traditional Meru-style safari tents, all spacious and comfortably furnished, with separate dressing area, bathroom en-suite with shower and flush loo, two double beds, and verandah with sunbed. The tents have constant electricity and hot running water.

Cooked breakfasts are provided each morning, accompanied by a light buffet of fruits and cereals. Lunch and dinner meals are plated with a changing selection of dishes each day, and accompanied by a salad buffet. There's a lovely shaded terrace where most meals are served.

The bar is well-stocked with local and imported beers, wines and spirits.
