Mapula Lodge

Okavango Delta, Botswana

Mapula Lodge

Mapula Lodge is situated on a small tree island in Mapula concession, from where it overlooks a permanent lagoon and a seasonal floodplain of the Okavango.

The very remote, very intimate Mapula Lodge is situated in Mapula concession, a 12,000ha private reserve in the northwest of the Okavango Delta, close to Moremi Game Reserve. The lodge is a 45 minute flight from Maun and has its own airstrip located a short distance from the camp grounds.

Mapula Lodge is situated on a small tree island overlooking a permanent lagoon and seasonal floodplains. It’s a good spot for game viewing, attracting a diverse range of wildlife, alongside a resident pod of hippo. The elusive wilddog can also be seen in this region of the Okavango Delta.

The camp itself is comfortable and unpretentious. At its centre is a central hub area, with large lounge, dining area, and comfortable viewing decks overlooking the lagoon.

There are 9 rooms at Mapula—7 twins, 1 double, and 1 family—each built on stilts and with a private deck overlooking the lagoon.

Mapula's rooms are clean and comfortable, with attractive en-suite bathrooms complete with open-air shower and traditional zinc bath tub, and generous lounge areas.

Child Policy

Mapula Lodge accepts children over the age of eight (younger children on special request, and typically only during low season). There are restrictions on game activities for children; for safety reasons, those under the age of twelve cannot join mokoro safaris, and those under the age of sixteen cannot take part in walking safaris.

Mapula Lodge is not an obvious choice for families with young children, due to its remote location and quiet atmosphere.
