Maison d'Hanoi Hanova

One of the newest hotels in central Hanoi, the Maison d'Hanoi Hanova is a modestly priced but generously equipped boutique hotel with elegant rooms, a traditional Vietnamese restaurant, and a marvellous top-floor spa.

Experience a taste of traditional Vietnam while staying at this friendly hotel in Hang Trong, just outside Hanoi’s effervescent Old Quarter. Only a few minutes’ walk from Hoan Kiem Lake and the other attractions of central Hanoi, Maison d’Hanoi Hanova is perfectly positioned for those visitors wanting to explore the city at their own pace and without the fuss of taxis and transfers. Hanoi’s central shopping street, Hang Gai, is only a few steps away.

Recently voted one of the top ten budget boutique hotels in Hanoi by the Guardian, the 4-star Maison d’Hanoi is among our favourite mid-range options in the city. It offers a similar standard of accommodation and amenities as its more expensive rivals, but at greatly reduced rates. It has a terrific top-floor spa, Le Royal, and of course the location is superb. All Maison d’Hanoi lacks is a pool.

The owners of Maison d’Hanoi recently added to their collection a sister hotel, the Maison d’Hanoi Boutique Hotel. Slightly smaller (38 rooms vs. Hanova’s 55 rooms), Maison Boutique is located just around the corner from its larger sibling, a short distance from the Water Puppet Theatre in Old Hanoi.

Accommodation

The 55 guest rooms and suites are classically decorated in a Vietnamese style. The large, luxurious beds have wonderful padded silk headboards while colourful Oriental trunks serve as tables. All rooms have air conditioning, satellite TV, direct dial telephone, safety box, internet access and minibar. Maison d’Hanoi’s higher category rooms enjoy wide balconies with a view of Hanoi’s skyline.

Dining

The Hanova Restaurant is open all day and serves traditional Vietnamese flavours alongside more familiar Western fare. It’s located in the hotel’s lowest floor, effectively the basement, and suffers a little from the lack of natural light. But the menu and wine list are good.

There’s no shortage of good restaurants within walking distance Maison d’Hanoi.
