Luang Say Residence

Hidden away in beautifully manicured gardens on the outskirts of Luang Prabang, Luang Say Residence is a glamorous boutique hotel that has been converted from a French colonial villa dating back to the 19th-century.

One of the Small Luxury Hotels of the World, Luang Say Residence is a blend of traditional Indochinese and French colonial architecture, situated amid lush tropical gardens and lily-filled ponds on the outskirts of Luang Prabang.

At the centre of Luang Say is the original French colonial home, which dates back to the 19th century and which still retains many of its original features. It’s a real period piece, with its whitewashed walls, ornate columns, wrap-around verandah and Parisian shutters. A handful of the hotel’s 24 guestrooms are located in the original home, but most are in newly built villas, or pavilions, scattered around the gardens and designed in the style of the main residence.

Luang Say Residence is located outside the town centre, a few minutes’ drive from the main heritage sites and 5km from the airport. A complimentary tuk tuk service to the town centre and night market is provided.

Luang Say Residence offers 24 lavishly furnished rooms—20 Pioneer suites and 4 ‘Explorator’ suites—divided between four garden pavilions and the original residence. All of the rooms are elaborately furnished and offer either mountain or garden views. The Explorator suites are situated in the first floor of the main house and, at 70 sq metres, are almost twice the size of the Pioneer rooms. Amenities standard in all rooms include AC, cable TV, minibar, Wi-Fi and in-room safe.

Choose to eat indoors or out on the terrace at la Belle Epoque restaurant, which offers regional Laotian and Asian dishes incorporating lots of fresh fruit and vegetables from the hotel’s own organic garden and the local markets.
