Leobo Private Reserve is an 8,000ha estate located in the Waterberg mountains, Limpopo State. Leobo is unique in that is a fully exclusive reserve. There is just one private home on the estate that is rented on an exclusive basis only – meaning you won't share your accommodation, or the game-viewing vehicles, with any other guests. With the main guest lodge, the Observatory Bush Villa, housing up to 9 people (6 adults and 3 children), it's a wonderful option for families or small groups looking for a truly exclusive escape.

There's a vast array of activities and exciting escapades to choose from at Leobo, including day and night game drives, helicopter flights, quad biking, guided walks, fresh water swimming, starlight safaris, bass fishing, horse riding, mountain biking, target shooting (clay pigeons), and more. Many, though not all, activities are included in the price. You have full flexibility in how you plan your day. There is no timetable to follow, either for the activities or meals. You can embark on game drives as and when you choose – the staff will always be ready to accommodate. Meals are prepared daily by your private chef based on your preferences and requests.

Luxury and exclusivity, then, is the order of the day at Leobo. It’s worth stressing that Leobo is first and foremost a luxury escape, and the game-viewing is not comparable to the best South African reserves – expect to see lots of plains game, hippo and giraffe. Leobo's attractions are its luxury private accommodation and the variety of activities on offer – for those wanting a truly exclusive escape, there's little else quite like it.

Accommodation

Guests are housed in the Observatory, a private villa designed by award-winning architects Lesley Carstens and Silvio Rech. It accommodates just nine guests in two luxury bedrooms and a triple bunk room for children. The village boasts huge and immaculately furnished living areas, with lots of open spaces, including private lounge and library, dining room, rooftop jacuzzi, and covered verandah with sun chairs and infinity swimming pool. The standout feature is the observatory dome, equipped with a 20-inch star-gazing telescope!

Dining

Meals are prepared to your tastes and dietary requirements by Leobo’s private chef. Choose to dine at a time that suits you. The Observatory offers indoor and outdoor dining spaces – indulge in a three-course plated meal around the shared dining table or enjoy a relaxed Braai (BBQ) on the verandah. The lounge with fireplace is a relaxed setting for drinks and aperitifs.
