Kwara Camp

Okavango Delta, Botswana

Kwara Camp

Kwara Camp is a small, mid-range lodge located in a private concession of the Okavango, close to the border with Moremi Game Reserve. Though not a luxury camp, Kwara offers absolutely fantastic game-viewing.

Kwara Camp is discreetly located in a private concession bordering the Moremi Game Reserve, within the permanent waterways and reed-lined lagoons of the Okavango Delta.

There is a floodplain in front of Kwara Camp and a huge expanse of bushland behind. The camp overlooks a watering hole which you can observe from the small pool or bar. Wildlife in this region is varied and includes hippo, crocodile, buffalo, sable, elephant, lechwe, sitatunga, zebra, roan, giraffe, wildebeest, tsessebe and abundant predators, including lion, wild dog, leopard, hyena and cheetah.

Kwara Camp, though very comfortable, couldn't be called a luxury camp. The atmosphere is relaxed and unpretentious, and the emphasis very much on game-viewing rather than luxury camping. For those looking for a mid-range camp within a private concession, however, it is one of the best choices in the Delta.

Accommodation

Kwara Camp features just eight Meru-style safari tents, all of which have been carefully tucked away within a grove of ebony trees. Raised on wooden decks, the tents overlook the floodplain in front of the camp, where hippos congregate throughout the year, their cries and calls a regular source of entertainment! The en-suite bathrooms are equipped with hot showers and flush loos. Inside, the rooms are spacious and comfortably furnished, with large double beds and ample storage space.

Kwara also has a single honeymoon suite located a distance from the other tents and featuring a number of extra luxuries, including an old-fashioned standalone bath with ball and claw feet.

Tasty and plentiful buffet meals are served for brunch and dinner, while a light breakfast of porridge and cereals served around the campfire precedes morning game activities.
