Kuriftu Lodge occupies a prime location on the shores of Lake Tana, the source of the Blue Nile, where it enjoys cool off-shore breezes and stunning lake views all year-round. One of the few upmarket lodges in the region, Kuriftu comprises 28 bungalow suites, a large swimming pool with sunbathing terrace, restaurant and luxury spa.

Kuriftu is the perfect base from which to explore the islands of Lake Tana, with their unique monasteries and medieval churches. You can also visit the first stone bridge constructed in Ethiopia under the command of Emperor Susenyos in 1626, as well as the thunderous Blue Nile Falls on the upper course of the river, only 37 Kilometers downstream from Lake Tana and the town of Bahir Dar. The falls are 40 meters high, and consist of four streams that vary from a trickle in the dry season to over 400 meters wide in the peak of the rainy season.

Accommodation

Accommodation at Kuriftu consists of 28 sturdy bugalows scattered along the lakeshore. The spacious rooms are furnished with a blend of traditional and modern decor - four-poster beds, plush linens, and tiled floors. Each room has its own verandah with a view of Lake Tana. Other amenities include satellite TV, fireplace, and mini-bar.

Dining

Traditional Ethiopian meals are served buffet-style inside the lodge dining room or on the outdoor patio overlooking the Lake, or alternatively in the privacy of your own bungalow.
