Kilimanjaro Mountain Resort is a comfortable if rather impersonal hotel situated close to Kilimanjaro's Marangu gate, from where it provides good access to the Marangu and Rongai trailheads. It's a small hotel (40 rooms), but it offers reasonable facilities (including a swimming pool, basic gym and spa) in a quiet, rural setting, surrounded by coffee and banana plantations and with views of Kilimanjaro from its outdoor terrace.
While most clients will stay here only one or two nights before and after their climb, its generous facilities and comfortable rooms make Kilimanjaro Mountain Resort well suited to those on longer stays. We generally prefer to recommend Ilboru Lodge, or, for clients on a more accommodating budget, Rivertrees Country Inn, as both offer great service and a little bit more personality than Kilimanjaro Mountain Resort. But we will sometimes use KMR for our clients climbing Kilimanjaro via Rongai route.
Kilimanjaro Mountain Resort is within easy driving distance of Arusha and Kilimanjaro International Airport (30 miles).
Accommodation
There are 40 double/twin rooms, decorated in a neutral style and equipped with the usual hotel amenities (tea/coffee facilities, satellite TV, mini-bar etc). All rooms are en-suite, some with bathtub and shower, some with shower only.
There’s a limited number of triple rooms.
Dining
Kilimanjaro Mountain Resort is typically booked B&B basis. The hotel offers an a la carte menu and room service for lunch/dinner.
