Hoi An Chic

Set in outer Hoi An amid a patchwork of emerald green rice paddies, Hoi An Chic is a lovely retreat that has been converted from a private home. It has just 17 rooms and an elevated pool with a view.

Surrounded by a patchwork of emerald green rice paddies on the outskirts of town, Hoi An Chic is a stylish boutique hotel that, with its red terracotta-tiled roofs and thick wooden rafters, perfectly captures the trademark architectural style of Hoi An.

This is a small and cosy boutique resort with a lovely setting. The architects have had to resort to some rather clever design feats to make Hoi An Chic fit within the confines of what was previously a private home. The restaurant is tucked away into the courtyard at ground level, while the pool is situated a level up on a raised terrace overlooking the rice fields (and, it should be noted, clearly visible from some of the surrounding homes, which some guests may find uncomfortable).

Thanks to its location in a quiet residential area outside Hoi An town centre, far removed from any other hotels, Hoi An Chic has a wonderfully peaceful atmosphere. It’s worth keeping in mind, however, that it is not within easy walking distance of the town or beach. There’s a shuttle service to the town centre. Bikes are also available to use. Otherwise, you’ll be relying on taxis to get around.

Accommodation

Hoi An Chic has just 17 rooms, each with a private balcony or terrace overlooking the gardens and paddy fields. The overall aesthetic is a blend of traditional Vietnamese and contemporary design. The furnishings and amenities are rather simple, but the décor—Asian lanterns, locally-carved wooden furniture, lots of plants and greenery—helps to give the rooms a very natural and homely feel. We particularly like the bathrooms which, though small, have beautiful open-air stone sunken bathtubs and his and her wash basins.

All of the rooms at Hoi An Chic are equipped with the expected mod-cons including air conditioning, cable TV, laptop, Wi-Fi, in-room safe and tea and coffee making facilities.

Dining

Hoi An Chic’s relaxing Lau Restaurant serves creative fusion food in buffet and barbecue style, which can be enjoyed in the terrace lounge while enjoying the pastoral views.
