Fordoun Hotel & Spa is a five-star resort in the heart of Kwazulu Natal. Originally a farmstead and dairy, the 1860s home has been carefully converted into a luxury hotel. The restoration has been thorough, particularly on the interiors, though Fordoun's history is still visible in some of the original structures and in the scattered period pieces that make up the decor. Thankfully, it hasn't been expanded with extensions and remains a relatively small hotel, sleeping just 34, albeit with event facilities that make it ideal for weddings.
An up-market boutique hotel, Fordoun is popular with honeymooners. It has a luxury, award-winning spa and a gourmet restaurant. Other facilities include indoor and outdoor pool, flotation tank, sauna, gym and, in what might be a first, a naturopathic healing plant garden, tended to by its own Sangoma (traditional South African healer).
With its rural location, Fordoun is a great place to simply relax, but there are also plenty of activities available in the local area, including fly fishing, horse riding, golf, mountain biking, ballooning, and of course, plenty of walking.
Accommodation
There are seventeen luxury suites. The rooms are large, beautifully appointed, and include all the expected modern amenities—underfloor heating, Wi-Fi, satellite television, tea/coffee facilities. Each of the rooms has a large en-suite bathroom with bath and shower, and separate dressing area. The rooms open onto private verandas.
There is a disabled suite with a specially adapted bathroom.

Fordoun's fine dining Skye Restaurant offers a rich and varied menu, combining country favourites with more indulgent fare, and accompanied by fine South African wines.
