Fonda Vela

Fonda Vela is a well-established and privately-run hotel situated close to the Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve.

Fonda Vela sits in 35 acres of lush gardens, brimming with tropical plants and over 200 species of bird, including toucan, parrot, hummingbird and – the star of the show – the very beautiful resplendent quetzal.

The rooms at Fonda Vela are housed in several buildings, all with wonderful views of the forest canopy. Stained-glass works and paintings by Paul Warren Smith (the original founder) add style and colour to the interior décor. The hotel is the only hotel in this area to have a heated swimming pool and two Jacuzzis, housed beneath a vast atrium.

Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve is just a 15-minute walk from the hotel.

There are 40 rooms divided into two categories - standard rooms and suites. All rooms have large comfy beds, TV, coffee maker, minibar and en-suite bathroom with complimentary toiletries. The suites are more spacious than the standard rooms, but offer the same amenities.

There are two restaurants at Fonda Vela. The elegant La Galleria enjoys superb views while the smaller, more intimate Fireside Room offers an open fire.
