Dunia Camp

Serengeti National Park, Tanzania

Dunia Camp

A small, secluded camp, Dunia offers superb game viewing all year round from its private location in the south west corner of the Central Seronera Valley, the very heart of the Serengeti.

Dunia is a lovely mid-range camp in the central Serengeti. It's situated south of Seronera in the Moru Kopjes, one of the most beautiful, and peaceful, areas of the central Serengeti. Many come to this region to see the Wildebeest migration between December and March, for which Dunia Camp is ideally positioned. Game-viewing is excellent throughout the year, however, with very high concentrations of big cats.

As a camp, Dunia is unpretentious, and puts a premium on comfort rather than style. It consists of just eight canvas guest tents and two spacious mess tents, tucked away in a secluded area of the Serengeti. With only a small number of camps, this region of the park receives comparatively few visitors, and gives you the chance to escape the crowds even in high season.

We love Dunia Camp. It has a great location in the Central Serengeti, right in the path of the annual migration, but in a part of the park with relatively few camps (at present), and so offers a good level of privacy. The camp itself is comfortable and well-presented, and the staff very helpful.

Accommodation

Dunia is an relaxed safari camp decorated in a traditional ‘bush-safari style’ - all weathered wood and sturdy canvas. It is stylish but not ostentatious. There are eight en-suite tents in total, all discreetly located on the slopes of Nyareboro Hill, and all with private veranda from which magnificent views of the Serengeti plains unfold.

Canvas chairs and coir mats decorate the private verandas, while hurricane lamps provide a flicker of vintage charm. Gas lamps, rugs, throws, and comfortable linens ensure a cosy atmosphere; Dunia is very much a bush-safari camp, but with added home comforts. The bathrooms are attractively decorated and feature copper bowl and jugs, bucket shower, and canvas toilet/shower partition.

Dining

Fresh meals are served in the communal dining area. Breakfast is self-service, and consists of toast and bread, fruits, pastries and eggs. Lunch is typically a packed lunch, served during the day’s activities. Plentiful buffet meals are served in the evening.
