Chitabe Lediba

Chitabe Lediba is a lovely little bush camp situated in the huge Chitabe Concession, in the remote southern reaches of the Okavango. It is the sister accommodation to Chitabe Camp, with which it shares the concession.

Chitabe Lediba is a comfortable five-roomed tented camp situated in the huge Chitabe Concession, in the southern Okavango, which it shares with its larger sister camp, Chitabe Camp. This is a unique region of the Delta. It is a relatively dry and heavily wooded landscape, making it well-suited to land activities such as walking safaris and game drives, but less suited to water-based safaris.

Chitabe Lediba is located on an island on the floodplains. The water levels are rarely high enough to allow for water activities (which are not offered at Chitabe regardless of the levels), but the lagoon does function as a watering hole, attracting a variety of game close to the vicinity of the camp. Indeed, the entire concession is rich in game, with sightings of the rare wild dog fairly common.

The main buildings at Chitabe Lediba are raised on wooden platforms providing views of the surrounding floodplains from the dining room, lounge and bar. There is a small pool and a cosy boma.

Chitabe Lediba offers five spacious and luxuriously appointed East African safari tents, all with en-suite facilities including flush toilet, shower and basin with hot and cold running water. Each room is positioned on a raised deck and has an outdoor shower. The room interiors are furnished to the same high standard as Chitabe Lediba's sister camp, Chitabe Camp. In addition each tent comes with a fan, mosquito nets, soaps, shampoo, gowns, towels, torches and insect repellent.

Sumptuous meals are served on the raised dining area accompanied by views over the nearby watering hole. Drinks are included, excluding premium brands and champagne.

Environmental Policy

Chitabe Lediba is run by Wilderness Safaris. Wilderness is a company at the forefront of eco-tourism who employ full-time environmentalists to ensure their camps are as eco-friendly as possible. Solar heating and power, limited burning of fossil fuels and utilising battery-operated lighting systems are standard. All camps are small, mostly tented and designed to blend into the natural environment. Their goal is that if a camp has to be moved the site can be restored to its natural state.
