Bwindi Lodge

Bwindi Lodge is a comfortable eco-lodge with a marvellous hilltop location just outside of Bwindi Forest. It accommodates only a small number of guests in its eight thatched cottages.

Situated in Buhoma Village, on the outskirts of Bwindi Forest, Bwindi Lodge is only a very short distance from the main entrance to the National Park and so perfectly placed for gorilla tracking. A beautiful eco-lodge, it offers comfortable accommodation and a fabulous setting on a high hill overlooking the forest.

Bwindi is home to more than 50% of the world's remaining mountain gorillas, including several habituated groups that can be visited on guided gorilla tracking tours. The park is also home to several other species of primate, including the golden monkey, as well as a rich diversity of birdlife. Most travellers of course come to Bwindi for the gorillas, but it's worth spending a few days here to explore the foothills of the mountains.

Accommodation

Eight large thatched cottages with en-suite facilities. The cottages are spaced well apart and each has its own private verandah overlooking the forest.

For environmental reasons, Bwindi Lodge uses bucket showers and 'long-drop' loos, similar to those found in many safari camps.

Dining

Meals at Bwindi Lodge are usually served on the verandah, overlooking Bwindi Forest, or in the lantern-lit dining area.
