Encircled by golden beaches, stunning reefs and azure seas teeming with tropical fish, Benguerra Lodge is a classic island retreat, hidden away in the beautiful Bazaruto Archipelago, Mozambique.
Benguerra Lodge is situated in a bay on the northwest side of Benguerra Island, Bazaruto, where it merges into the natural milkwood forest. It is a small and intimate retreat that offers generous hospitality in a relaxed atmosphere. The lodge incorporates locally-sourced natural materials into its wooden floors, woven reed walls and thatched roofing. The main area houses the lounge and bar, dining room, library and raised wooden deck which provides fantastic views of the sea and beach. Other facilities at Benguerra Lodge include a spa and small swimming pool.
Accommodation
Benguerra Lodge's ten stone and thatch bungalows nestle among the milkwood forest, only a stone's throw away from the beach, and directly overlooking the ocean. The bungalows are large and open-plan, and feature terracotta flooring, carved wooden furniture and wide windows to make the most of the views.
In addition to the standard bungalows, there are two Cabana suites with additional facilities including king-sized beds, Jacuzzi, outdoor showers and private decks.
There is also a large, private villa, which comes with a personal chef. With two bedrooms, swimming pool, and private beach and garden access, the villa is perfect for families or honeymooners looking for that extra level of privacy.
Dining
The menu at Benguerra Lodge emphasises freshly caught seafood, including crab, lobster and prawns. There are also plenty of vegetarian options, though do let us at Gane and Marshall know in advance of your dietary requirements to ensure you are well-catered for. Meals are served in the dining area or on the beach. Castaway picnics are also available, and recommended!
