Baker’s Lodge

Murchison Falls National Park

Baker’s Lodge

This small upmarket safari lodge is located on the southern section of the Nile river bank, and is ideally located for game drives, guided bush walks and bird-watching in Murchison Falls National Park.

The lodge is surrounded by large trees and wetlands which attract myriad birds. Built on raised platforms, the views across the river are fabulous.

Game drives mostly take place in the savannah on the northern bank of the Nile, a short boat ride from the lodge. Wildlife is plentiful and with luck you may see giraffe, lion, leopard, buffalo, elephant, hyena, a variety of antelopes, hippos, crocodiles and, of course, plentiful birdlife.

Accommodation

Baker’s Lodge offers 10 thatched cottages built on wooden platforms with private verandahs and large roll-up netted windows for spectacular river views. Each cottage is spacious and airy with double bed, overhead fan, mosquito net, writing table and chair, wooden explorer’s chests and safe. The en-suite bathrooms use solar power for hot water. Some of the cottages also have a bath with a river view.

The interior furniture is handmade by local craftsmen, as are the decorative carvings found throughout the lodge.
