Adley House

Built in 1905, Adley House is a fabulous Victorian-era home secluded within one acre of private gardens in Oudtshoorn, in the region of Little Karoo.

Built in 1905, Adley House is a fabulous Victorian-era home set within manicured English gardens in Oudtshoorn. Converted into a two-room B&B in 1989, Adley House has since been renovated to modern standards and expanded to include 14 rooms, but still retains much of its old world charm.

Adley House is one of Oudtshoorn’s best guesthouses. The rooms are simple but cosy, and the public areas, including lounge with fireplace and secluded gardens with two swimming pools, are perfect for relaxing between activities. Owners Pieter & Hilda Retief are generous hosts and always on hand to attend to your needs.

Adley House is set just outside of Oudtshoorn town centre overlooking the Grobbelaars River, within easy walking distance of several top restaurants. It's a great base from which to explore not just Oudtshoorn but the wider region of Little Karoo.

Just 14 en-suite guest rooms, of which one is a family unit with three beds. The rooms are simply furnished with rattan furniture, large double or twin beds, and thick rugs over wooden floorboards. Paintings and fresh flowers add a bit of colour. Amenities in all rooms include AC, satellite TV, telephone, tea/coffee tray, and electric blankets. The luxury rooms are slightly larger than the standard and feature separate bath and shower.

Adley House is booked on a B&B basis.

A generous breakfast of fresh bread (baked by Hilda), preserves, cheese, cereals, fruit, tea and coffee is provided daily, along with cooked breakfast to order.

Hosts Pieter and Hilda will provide a traditional South African braai, or barbecue, for you (with advance notice!)
