This 8-day part mobile / part lodge safari will show you the best of the Quirimbas Archipelago, Mozambique. You will spend four nights mobile camping on the islands of Quirimba and Matemo, before transferring to the barefoot luxury of Ibo Island Lodge.

Outline Itinerary

  1. Day 1: Arrive Pemba; transfer by light aircraft to Ibo Island

    You will be met on arrival at Pemba Airport and escorted to your light aircraft, which will carry you over the pristine islands and turquoise waters of the Quirimbas Archipelago to Ibo Island Lodge.

  2. Day 2: Dhow transfer to Matemo Island

    Depart Ibo Island after breakfast at the lodge and journey north into the Quirimbas Archipelago by dhow boat.

  3. Day 3: Matemo Island

    Today will be spent exploring Matemo Island. Start the day with an early morning cruise up the Ulumbwa estuary, during which you’ll learn more about the wide variety of birdlife and the mangroves that thrive in this area.

  4. Day 4: Quirimba Island

    Enjoy a leisurely breakfast as your crew pack up camp. When ready, depart Matemo for Quirimba, the island that gave the archipelago its name.

  5. Day 5: Day trip to Mogundula Island

    Set off early this morning by dhow boat for Mogundula Island.

  6. Day 6: Return to Ibo Island

    Today will see you return to Ibo Island. After breakfast at camp, board your dhow boat for the leisurely cruise back to Ibo Island Lodge.

  7. Day 7: Explore Ibo Island

    A full day to explore Ibo Island in the company of a local guide.

  8. Day 8: Departure

    Transfer by boat to Quirimba Island for your light air transfer to Pemba and onward flight connection. The stunning light aircraft flight over the islands is a wonderful way to say goodbye to this magical region!
