But there are so many routes to choose from!<\/p>\n<p>The most popular routes offered by many trekking companies are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Marangu Route &#8211; 5 days, stay in huts, same route up and down, very, very crowded<\/li>\n<li>Machame Route &#8211; 5 days, varied and challenging, very crowded. An extra day can be added<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Routes offered by Gane and Marshall are:<img decoding=\"async\" title=\"Read More...\" src=\"data:image\/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP\/\/\/yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7\" alt=\"\" data-wp-more=\"\" data-mce-resize=\"false\" data-mce-placeholder=\"1\" \/><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.ganeandmarshall.com\/itinerary-pdf\/Kilimanjaro-Rongai7-Second_Cave-Climb-Itinerary.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">Rongai Route<\/a>\u00a0&#8211; 7 days, avoid the crowds, tends to be slightly drier than southern and western routes, approach from the north, descend via Marangu Route.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.ganeandmarshall.com\/itinerary-pdf\/Kilimanjaro-Trekking-Lemosho-Climb-Itinerary.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">Lemosho Route<\/a>\u00a0&#8211; 8 days, for good acclimatisation and a greater chance to reach\u00a0summit. Over the years this has been our most successful and popular Kilimanjaro itinerary.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.ganeandmarshall.com\/itinerary-pdf\/Kilimanjaro-Shira8-climb-trekking-itinerary.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">Shira Route<\/a>\u00a0&#8211; 8 days, approaching through the west offers magnificent scenery. Mainly follows the same trail as Lemosho Route. There are Open Group Departures every week during the climb seasons at low and affordable prices.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.ganeandmarshall.com\/itinerary-pdf\/Kilimanjaro-Northern-Circuit-9-Days-Itinerary.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">The Northern Circuit<\/a>\u00a0&#8211; 9 days,\u00a0via Shira Plateau, the northern flank, Gilmans Point and Uhuru Point. The descent is via the scenic, wilderness Mweka Route.\u00a0 A superb route for the intrepid explorer.<\/p>\n<p>When you begin your research to select your route, you will discover that if you go quickly it is cheaper.\u00a0So you may be asking why not climb quickly?<\/p>\n<p>Well, Gane and Marshall have just published an acclimatisation profile which explains the pros and cons of the shorter routes. It\u2019s pretty simple really \u2013 the shorter the climb, the more discomfort you suffer, the more likely you are to come down early with Acute Mountain Sickness, and your chances of actually reaching Uhuru Point are seriously reduced.
