Seychelles:
Praslin Island
The island of Praslin is famous for its tranquil atmosphere, fabulous unspoilt beaches and the Vallée de Mai, but it also boasts a rich history as a hideaway for pirates and Arab merchants before it was colonised.
Most of Praslin, which covers an area of 44 square kilometres, is covered in tropical forest. Flora and fauna thrive together in the heart of the Vallee de Mai, in a harmony of vanilla plants, the famous "coco de mer" and some of the rarest birds. Nature lovers will be delighted with Praslin.
Praslin is a convenient starting point for visiting the neighbouring islands, there is a schooner which sails between Praslin and La Digue several times a day.
In and around Praslin
Praslin is home to some particularly beautiful beaches, and in many places it is very quiet.
The interior, like many of the islands, boasts a rich wildlife; the Islands main attraction is the Vallée de Mai National Park.
