Lake Victoria
(Kenya)
Lake Victoria is the second largest freshwater lake in the world at 70,000 square kilometres, and crosses over into Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda.
The lake is one of many within the African Great Rift Valley system and lies high on an elevated plateau. Despite being densely populated, the lake and its beautiful surrounds are well protected and attract only so many tourists.
The lake is home to around 3,000 islands, many of which are populated - some as tourist destinations. This makes Lake Victoria an ideal location for water sports, fishing and island boating trips.
