Amboseli National Park
(Kenya)
Despite its size, Amboseli is one of the most popular parks in Kenya due in part to its stunning views of Mt. Kilimanjaro.
Most of the region is flat and dusty with grassland and some wooded areas. Game is varied and the reserve is particularly famous for its huge herds of elephants, as well as buffalo, cheetah, lion, leopard and antelope. The park is also an excellent area to spot the rare black rhino.
In and around Amboseli
The park is popular and as such easily accessible. Most activities take place in game vehicles, but walking safaris are possible.
You’ll also be given the opportunity to interact with the local Masai at many camps and lodges.
Accommodation in Amboseli National Park (Kenya)
Amboseli Porini Camp is located in the Selenkay Conservation Area, a 15,000-acre private game reserve within a vast tract of land owned by the Kisonko clan of the Maasai people.
Built with a sensitive eye to its surrounding environment, Tortilis Camp sits nestled in a verdant acacia grove at the foot of the majestic, snow-capped peak of Mount Kilimanjaro.
