Mountain Trekking
Gane and Marshall is an experienced provider of treks and climbs in the African continent. We specialise in treks in Easts Africa to Kilimanjaro, Meru, Mt.Kenya, the Simiens and in South Africa to the Drakensberg.
In the Himalalyas we offer a variety of treks and climbs in Nepal and Markha Valley Trail and Stok Kangri in Ladakh.
In South America we organise climbs in Ecuador and of course the second highest of the continental summits: Aconcagua.
Jeremy Gane has been appointed consultant, project manager and tour leader for the Comic Relief celebrity climb of Kilimanjaro, which includes in the party Chris Moyles, Gary Barlow, Cheryl Cole and many other celebrities.

Example itineraries for Mountain Trekking
An eight days trek commencing in the west, crossing Shira Plateau, and going for the summit - Uhuru - via Barranco Wall, Karanga Valley, Barafu Route and Stella Point. The descent is via Mweka Route. We offer regular small group departures commnecing in Arusha most Fridays during the climbing seasons.

Kilimanjaro Eight days Lemosho Route
A western approach through Lemosho rainforest, across shira Plateau, and up Barafu route to Uhuru Point, the summit of Kilimanjaro. Descent down the Mweka Route.
Meru is Africas 4th highest mountain. The approach through Arusha National Park gfives you the opportunity to see game such as buffalo and antelope and in the forest black and white colubus monkey.The climb itself visits Miriakamba Hut and Saddle Hut, little Meru and the Ash Cone as well as the dramtaic crater rim, blasted by volcanic eruptions hundreds of years ago. A Mount Meru climb also combines well with a six days Kilimanjaro climb.

The expedition approaches Stok Kangri with a wonderful trek through remote valleys, scattered high villages and past hilltop Buddhist monasteries to the base of the mountain. Some of the trek is on the famed Markha Valley Trail. This outstanding trek to the summit of India’s highest mountain Stok Kangri, (6,137m/20,130ft) is the perfect challenge for trekkers, who want to summit an Indian Himalayan Peak.

This programme combines Markha Valley Trail with a climb to the summit of India’s highest mountain Stok Kangri, (6,121m/20,082ft). It is perfect for trekkers, who want to see a good deal of the Markha Valley and also summit an Indian Himalayan Peak. The climb is a perfect follow-on for those, who have climbed Kilimanjaro, and it takes you over the 6000 metres threshold.

Perfect altitude acclimatisation for Kilimanjaro on Africa's fourth highest summit - Mount Meru. Climb Meru via Miriakamba and Saddle hut over four days, adn also view distant Uhuru from Little Meru Peak. Then on to Kilimanjaro for a 6 days climb on Rongai route going via Mawenzi Tarn, Gilmans Point and Uhuru Peak, descent being on the Marangu Route.

The Mt Kenya Burguret Wilderness Route route was pioneered during colonial days and then abandoned for many years until it was re-opened it in the early 90s. Gane and Marshall are one of the very few companies to have the right to use this route.
