Rhino Plains Camp

Plains Camp is a small bush camp located in a private concession within the Kruger National Park. It accommodates just ten guests in its five Meru-style safari tents. Game-viewing takes place largely on foot.

Owned and managed by Rhino Walking Safaris, Rhino Plains Camp is a small pioneer-style bush camp located in a private 30,000 acre reserve within Kruger National Park. It has the appearance of a classic East African safari camp, with just five Meru tents, furnished to luxury standards and tucked away in the acacia bush. The camp is raised on wooden decks, and enjoys marvellous views of the game-rich Timbitene Plain.

Plains Camp is ideal for those wanting a genuinely wild safari. There is an emphasis on walking safaris, which take place in the surrounding bushveld and can last anywhere from two hours to most of the day. Safari sleep outs under the stars (on elevated platforms) are another highlight. Traditional driven (4x4) safaris are of course also offered.

Rhino Plains Camp is the sister property to Rhino Post Safari Lodge, and the two are often booked together. Rhino Post offers a more conventional safari experience, where the focus is on driven safaris, while Plains Camp offers a much wilder safari. It caters only to adults, and takes a very small number of guests at any given time (max. 8).

Accommodation

Rhino Plains offers just five classic safari tents, decorated so as to resemble a 19th-century pioneers' camp, but furnished with the amenities you would expect of a luxury lodge, including hot running water. All of the tents are built on raised wooden decks and enjoy views of the plains in front of the camp and a small watering hole.

Sleepouts on elevated platforms are also offered at Rhino Plains Camp.
