Ol Seki Mara

Naboisho Conservancy, Maasai Mara

Ol Seki Mara

Ol Seki is a small, luxury camp with an exclusive location in the Naboisho Conservancy, bordering the Maasai Mara Game Reserve. Opened in 2005, the camp was incorporated into the Hemingways hotel collection in 2011. More recently a swimming pool has been added making Ol Seki one of the few small tented camps in the Mara region to offer a pool.

Ol Seki stands out for its location. Straddling a broad ridge in the heart of the Naboisho Conservancy, the camp offers fabulous views of the Mara plains from each of its ten tented rooms and from its guest areas, which include swimming pool, separate dining and lounge tents, and viewing terrace. The tents are well spaced out along the ridge to ensure privacy.

Ol Seki is one of only a limited number of camps within the community-run Naboisho Conservancy. This ensures that game drives in the vicinity of the camp are free of the traffic that often attends game drives in the core territories of the Maasai Mara, and also opens up the possibility of additional activities, such as night drives and walking safaris, which are not allowed within the main Maasai Mara Reserve (please note that some activities, such as walking safaris, are at additional cost and are best pre-booked in advance).

Accommodation

Ol Seki offers six standard tents and two family suites comprised of 2 tents each. The standard tents are spacious dome tents set on raised wooden platforms, with multiple openings to make the most of the views. Each is furnished with a double bed, sofa and writing desk, and opens onto a shaded cobblestone verandah with outdoor table for private dining. The units are all en-suite (shower only; no bathtub).

The two family suites – ‘Simba’ and ‘Chui’ – differ in design and are separate from the main camp tents. Simba is best suited to families travelling with younger children, featuring two interconnected rooms joined by a central lounge & kitchen area (with private chef and room steward). Chui’s two rooms and lounge area, by contrast, are separated by a wooden walkway, and the lounge is made up with a private bar.

Dining

Ol Seki’s dining area mirrors the design of its guest tents, and is contained within a large dome tent equipped with communal dining table – where evening meals are typically enjoyed – which opens out onto a broad terrace furnished with individual tables for couples and small groups preferring to dine privately. Meals at Ol Seki can also be enjoyed privately on the terrace of your guest tent.
