Buffalo Luxury Camp occupies a private 60-acre hillside site just outside the borders of the Serengeti National Park (5kms from the main Klein's Gate). Its location on a private reserve outside the Park has a number of advantages, including access to additional activities not possible in the main National Park - night game drives and private game walks, for instance - as well as greater privacy.
Buffalo Luxury Camp is open throughout the year, though game viewing is generally best between July and October, when you can hope to see the migration.
Accommodation
Buffalo Luxury Camp is a permanent camp comprised of twenty luxury tents. The raised tents are very spacious and feature their own private verandahs. All are supplied with hot running water and reliable electricity (given the location). Most of the tents are categorised as suites, and have the advantage of a larger sitting area and bathtub. The standard tents, which are fewer, have showers.
The main building is spread across multiple levels and features a relaxed lounge and bar, and a somewhat more formal dining area. Built on a high stone foundation, which serves as a lovely terrace, the lodge looks out over the surrounding savannah and the wild plains of the Serengeti National Park.
Dining
Meals at Buffalo Camp are a delight. Bush breakfasts, served in the middle of the morning game drive, are a particular treat, as are the evening Serengeti sundowners. There is a unique hilltop boma setting for al fresco dinners under the stars.
