General Description

Xakanaxa Camp, one of Botswana’s first safari camps, is situated in the lush northern region of the Moremi Game Reserve. This is a unique area of permanent delta waterways, vast floodplains, a lagoon and dry woodlands. Xakanaxa Camp has a thatched, central living area which is positioned to overlook the Khwai River and lagoon. There is an open-air lounge with large comfortable couches, and an elegant dining area, a plunge pool and sun deck overlook the delta waterways, where you can spend a lazy day. Due to Its prime location, this is one of the only safari camps which can provide guests with an authentic year round Okavango Delta land and water safari experience. The lodge is family run and is still a popular choice due to its superb location, fantastic game viewing, friendly service and authentic safari style.

Accommodation

Accommodation consists of 12 luxury, spacious safari tents set on wooden platforms, each with en-suite facilities. The tents are fully equipped, tastefully furnished and overlook the Khwai River, each has a private viewing deck with comfortable loungers.
There is also a private eight bedded unit with an elevated wood and thatch lounge, sala, dining room and pool. This is suitable for groups.

Dining and Food

The kitchen is renowned for its traditional safari fare served with a Pan-African touch, accompanied by good quality South African wines. Guests usually eat together in the dining room, although the Camp also caters individually for those wishing to dine in private.

Activities

Boat trips and game drives are conducted by a team of professional guides. The area is also excellent for birding, particularly in the summer months from November to March, as the migrants come in their thousands to breed. Explore the region by mokoro or on nature walks and trips to nearby heronries.
