Virunga Lodge
(Volcanoes National Park - Rwanda)
General Description
Virunga Lodge is the latest addition to Volcanoes’ eco-lodges, and lies set on a stunning hillside with breathtaking views of the Virunga volcanoes. Below, lays a patchwork of farmland and the beautiful Lakes, Ruhondo and Bulera.
Aside from gorilla tracking, clients can climb the Visoke or Karisimbi volcanoes, track the golden monkey, or go for gentle strolls around the picturesque villages near the lakes.
Approximately three hours drive from Kigali or a long day’s drive from Kampala.
Accommodation
There are eight individual chalets or ‘bandas’, with either volcano or lake views, as well as private gardens and verandahs.
Bedrooms are individually decorated and spacious with king-size or twin beds. The bathrooms have eco-toilets and bucket showers.
Dining
Excellent meals are served in the dining room and picnic lunches can be packed for daytrips.

Environmental Policy
The lodge has been built to environmentally friendly standards relying on solar power to provide electricity. Eco-toilets are used rather than flush toilets and there is no running water, water is supplied to your room in tanks.
