The Norfolk Hotel

(Nairobi - Kenya)

General Description
The Norfolk Hotel has played a leading role in Kenya's colorful history, and continues to be one of Nairobi's finest and best-known hotels. The town, and later the modern city, of Nairobi, grew up around The Norfolk Hotel, which still occupies a large plot of land in the city with its own private tropical gardens. The hotel is the traditional starting point for safaris and the Lord Delamere Terrace is Nairobi's most famous meeting place, where drinks and light meals are served continuously from morning until midnight.

The hotel has three conference rooms, a heated outdoor swimming pool, health club with gym, sauna and steam room, beauty salon, book shop and gift shops.

The city offers pleasant churches, as well as good restaurants and interesting museums. Tourists are drawn to Nairobi National Park, which is close to the city and provides a true wilderness experience. The AFEW Giraffe Center and the Snake Park are also popular sites, offering an opportunity to learn about the area's wildlife. The National Museum's exhibits on Kenyan culture and history focus on prehistoric relics, native animals, and tribal art. For a more authentic taste of Nairobi, visit the municipal market near Uhuru Park.

Accommodation
The hotel offers accommodation in 168 guest rooms and suites. All guest rooms are luxuriously furnished with plush carpeting and deep velour soft furnishings. The guest rooms all have bedside lamps, dressing tables, and built-in wardrobes, besides luggage racks. Every room has a telephone and telephone directory, direct dialling facilities, satellite television, mosquito repellent and air conditioning. Back-up generators in the hotel allow for 24-hour electricity.

Dining
There are six restaurants in the hotel, one to suit every mood and palate. The renowned Ibis Restaurant offers award-winning gourmet dishes in a comfortable setting. The relaxed setting of the Hibiscus Bar and Lounge is the perfect spot to unwind, while the Lord Delamere Terrace is the ideal spot for people watching. The extensive room service menu is always an option when a more private setting is preferred.
