Ol Donyo Wuas

(Chyulu Hills and Tsavo National Parks - Kenya)

General Description
This superb lodge, one of the best known bush homes of Kenya, is ideally situated between Amboseli and Tsavo National Parks. Ol Donyo Wuas nestles in the western foothills of the Chyulu range, overlooking Kilimanjaro with quintessential Africa in the foreground - flat top acacia trees and golden savannah as far as the eye can see. The Chyulu Hills are the youngest range of volcanic hills in Africa, the last volcanic activity having only happened about 600 years ago.

The lodge consists of eight individual cottages built with local materials. There is a centrally positioned sitting and dining room with an open fireplace. In front of the mess are a swimming pool and a waterhole below where animals come to drink.

Guests can plan their day choosing from a wide range of guided activities such as game drives in open 4x4 Land Rovers, walking safaris, horse riding, hiking in the mountain range or cultural trips designed to give you an insight into traditional Masai customs.

Accommodation
The lodge consists of 8 cottages, each one defined by its own character, comfort and privacy. The architecture is unique and the cottages are constructed using only local materials. The cottages have en suite bathrooms; the lighting is solar powered as is the hot water of the showers, with wood burning stoves as a back up for grey days. Two of the cottages have an additional bedroom for guests travelling with children.

All cottages have a veranda with panoramic views of the plains and Mount Kilimanjaro.
