North Island
(Private Islands - Seychelles)
General Description
North Island lays hidden and secluded, being one of the inner, smaller islands of the breathtaking Seychelles Archipelago. The island combines beautiful beaches with a lush, unspoiled interior of granite mountains, wetlands and jungle. Intimate and luxurious, even by Seychelles standards, North Island is perfect for honeymooners and romantics. There are four exquisite beaches facing in different directions and the diving is world class.
North Island Lodge has been built in a style as natural as the trees, beaches and rocks that surround it, with soft driftwood furnishings and zen-like water features. The owners are committed to preserving the ecology of the island and fund an intensive programme to reintroduce endangered species to the area. The resident ecologist is on hand for guided walks to explore the fabulous flora, fauna and birdlife.
A lounge, dining room and library, health spa and gym, world-class dive centre, and a rim-flow swimming pool are all built into a granitic outcrop. A sunset bar and restaurant are tucked away on the western beach of the island. Activities include mountain biking, gym, guided walks, snorkelling, fishing, boating, sea kayaking, and scuba diving.
Accommodation
11 beautiful villas each measuring 450 square meters. Each villa is comprised of a master bedroom (with air conditioning), ensuite bathroom with indoor and outdoor shower, a dressing room, lounge and second bedroom suitable for children. Outside a wooden deck leads to a private plunge pool and sala. Each villa also has its own electric 4x4 ‘beach buggie’ and 2 mountain bikes for exploring the island.
Dining
There is a dining area overlooking the beach. Alternatively you can choose to dine privately in your villa. Romantic champagne beach picnics are also possible.

Fair trade and eco-policy
North Island is run by Wilderness Safaris. Wilderness is a company at the forefront of eco-tourism, who employ full-time environmentalists to ensure their camps are as eco-friendly as possible. Solar heating and power, limited burning of fossil fuels and utilising battery-operated lighting systems are standard. All camps are small, mostly tented and designed to blend into the natural environment. Their goal is that if a camp has to be moved the site can be restored to its natural state. Their "conservation through tourism" policy shares the benefits of tourism with local communities and ensures the protection of these areas for future generations.
