Loisaba

(Laikipia - Kenya)

General Description
Loisaba is a working ranch, conservation project and luxury lodge with spa. Constructed from stone, local timber and thatch, the lodge is perched high on the edge of the Laikipia Plateau looking south towards Mount Kenya, with some of the best views of any lodge in the region.

Each room has large French windows that open onto a private deck cantilevered off the escarpment. The views are fantastic, and a water hole a few hundred feet below draws continuous wildlife, including elephant, giraffe, oryx and kudu.

All the furniture is handmade at Loisaba. The main lodge has a swimming pool, tennis court, bocce court and croquet lawn. The spa offers massage and beauty treatment and a romantic open-air bubble bath, all with a tranquil view of the unspoilt Karissia Hills.

Accommodation
There is a variety of accommodation options at Loisaba. Loisaba Lodge is set on the escarpment with 7 rooms. Each room has its own private deck overlooking views of Laikipia.

Guests may wish to use the Kiboko Star Beds which are 20 minutes drive from the lodge and overlook a waterhole/dam, or the Koija Star Beds overlooking the Ewaso Nyiro River. Each Star Bed is designed on a raised, handcrafted, wooden platform that is partially covered with a thatched roof. Homemade ‘Mukokoteni’ beds can either be wheeled onto the open deck for a night under the stars, or left under the shelter of the roof.

Loisaba Cottage is approximately 9kms from the main lodge. It is set back from the escarpment in beautifully landscaped gardens with a private swimming pool. The Cottage has three double en-suite rooms with shower and one double/twin room with access to large bathroom via an external staircase.

Loisaba House is a truly exclusive, self-contained private house with cliff-top swimming pool, built on the edge of the escarpment entirely from local stone and thatch. The location and architecture of the house are breathtaking, as are the furnishings, most of which have been designed and made at Loisaba.
