Klein's Camp
(Serengeti National Park - Tanzania)
General Discreption
Klein's Camp is deep in the heart of Maasai territory in the buffalo-rich north-eastern Serengeti in Tanzania. Its huge wildlife concession is allotted for the exclusive use of the camp’s 20 guests, offering the ultimate personal Tanzanian safari. With Kenya’s Masai Mara National Reserve to the north and the Serengeti to the west, Klein’s is one of the most strategically positioned wildlife sanctuaries in the world. The camp is set on the edge of the Kuka Hills, commanding breathtaking views of the valley through which hundreds of thousands of wildebeest and zebra migrate, in addition to excellent year-round game viewing. Action-packed night game-drives and extensive bush walks into the Serengeti are an absolute highlight.
The camp has a large, beautifully furnished bar/sitting area, swimming pool and African crafts shop featuring locally made Maasai crafts.
Accommodation
Klein's Camp has ten intimate twin-bedded cottages made of rock and thatch with rich wooden floors and serene, classic interiors. The round stone walls of the cottages and polished wooden floors offset the soft cream and gossamer interiors. As in days gone by, water for the shower of your en suite stone bathroom is warmed each evening by a roaring fire under the tank while you enjoy quiet sundowner drinks on your private veranda.
Dining & Food
Escorted by the quiet, regal Maasai, dinner waits in the lantern-lit dining room overlooking the valley below. Fresh vegetables picked from the camp’s shamba, an organic African garden, accompany wholesome Pan-African meals. Dinners are served in the main dining area, which is graced by a large open fireplace, or enjoyed in a spectacular clearing in the African bush. The camp also offers bush breakfasts, sundowners, and romantic bush dinners on the quartzite hills with magnificent views over the northern Serengeti.

Fair trade and eco-tourism
Klein’s Camp has contributed significantly towards improving the prosperity and living conditions of the local Ololosokwan community. Klein’s Camp leases its 10 000-hectare (24 800-acre) private wildlife concession from the Ololosokwan, who receive a significant portion of the camp’s revenue. The camp shares part of the sanctuary with the local Maasai pastoralists who traditionally graze their herds alongside the wildlife.
