Kicheche Laikipia
(Laikipia - Kenya)
General Description
Laikipia Camp is a small luxurious tented camp, nestled at the foot of indigenous forest overlooking a waterhole, in the centre of the Ol Pejeta Conservancy. There are just six tents as well as a spacious well furnished lounge and dining tent, although alfresco dining is preferred if weather permits.
The Conservancy is 90,000 acres of wilderness and offers an incredibly uncrowded environment in which to enjoy quality game viewing. The Conservancy is home to Kenya's largest population of Black Rhino, large numbers of elephant, cheetah, lion, leopard and plentiful plains game. There are also a number of rarer Northern species such as Grevys Zebra, Jacksons Hartebeest and Beisa Oryx. The Conservancy is just 30 minutes drive from Nanyuki airstrip and affords wonderful views of Mt Kenya.
Accommodation
The camp consists of six luxurious tents which are custom designed and are fully insect-proof. The tents have en-suite bathrooms equipped with a dresser, flushing toilet and hot showers. There are comfortable chairs on each verandah overlooking the waterhole.
Dining and Food
Where possible all the vegetables and meat are sourced locally from the surrounding farms. Breakfast and lunch are usually taken alfresco and evening meals within the dining tent. Drinks are included and there is a fully stocked bar with a range of wines. Picnic breakfasts and lunches are also available on game driving excursions

Activities
A full selection of game-viewing activities is available including day and night game drives and interpretative game walks. There is also a Lion Tracking program which monitors the lions in the area (some have been collared). As part of the program you are able to track the lions with a portable satellite dish and remit the data to the study centre.
The Chimpanzee Sanctuary for orphaned chimps is an excellent venue to observe the two families and learn about the perils facing chimpanzees in the wild.
