General Description

Set in the picturesque wine-producing valley of Franschhoek, and surrounded by vineyards and mountains, this restored manor house and former perfumery dating back to 1890, is a perfect place from which to explore the Western Cape. The ambience is one of a French provincial village, complete with water features, fountains, cobblestone, olive trees and of course grape vines! All suites enjoy spectacular views of the surrounding mountains, fountain courtyard and swimming pools.

Accommodation
The Country House offers 14 luxury rooms - most lead out onto balconies or private patios. All rooms include satellite TV, direct dial telephone, overhead fans and en-suite bathroom.

In addition there are 12 villa suites, each of which consists of an entrance portico leading into a large, well appointed lounge. French doors lead you into the bedroom and both rooms open onto a large private balcony. The bedroom also has a second intimate private balcony with views over the lush gardens. Each bedroom has a beautifully fitted en-suite bathroom decorated in a French provincial style. Fireplaces and under-floor heating to the lounge, bedroom, bathroom and even the showers ensure you are cosy and warm in the winter. Other standard items include a mini bar and tea/coffee making facilities.

Dining

The in-house Monneaux restaurant, voted as one of South Africa's Top Restaurants, has become known for its innovative French Cuisine, prepared with fresh, well sourced ingredients. Lunches are served on the magnificent new fountain terrace, whilst dinner is served in the dining room or enclosed verandah. The wine list emphasizes local wines that can also be enjoyed by the glass in the cosy wine bar or underground cellar.
