Footsteps Camp
(Okavango Delta - Botswana)
General Description
If you're keen to do some walking in Botswana, then Footsteps Walking Trails is a great place to consider! This is a very simple, rustic camp, currently located on the edge of a beautiful hippo-filled lagoon (the camp is fully portable and tends to be moved to a new location every couple of years). If you enjoy remote areas with a comfortable level of accommodation, then you will love Footsteps. The main tent acts as the dining room and guests gather around the fire for pre dinner drinks. The individual tents are set-up in the shade of a lovely forested area and the camp takes a maximum of six visitors.
Accommodation
Footsteps Camp offers simple, but comfortable, accommodation in three mini meru en-suite tents with bucket showers and long drop toilets. Each tent has twin beds with side dressers and mirrors and there is also a bath tent complete with Victorian bath!
Dining and Food
The food produced by the chef in the bush kitchen, will astound you! The high standard of cuisine includes fresh fruits and vegetables, cheeses and South African wines as well as a stocked bar. The food is simple, but delicious and home cooked.
Facilities
The entire camp is run off solar energy
Activities
The main activity at Footsteps Camp is walking, and guests should expect to walk on most days, but guests also have a vehicle and mokoros at their disposal. The guides are very experienced, and you will usually walk in both the morning and afternoons. Each walk will last for three to four hours. These are not route marches, but opportunities to explore the environment and wildlife with an expert guide.
Child Policy
The camp runs a special programme called “Young Explorers”. The camp will accept children who are 7 years of age and older, but special considerations may be made on application.
