Erongo Wilderness Lodge

(Windhoek and Central Region - Namibia)

General Description

Erongo Wilderness Lodge is a secluded getaway nestled amid huge granite boulders on the outskirts of an ancient volcano. These are the Erongo Mountains – a spectacular feature in the heart of a country renowned for its scenic beauty. The mountains form a unique region for a vast array of plant, reptile, mammal and bird species that are endemic to Namibia. The main lodge houses a lounge and restaurant in a partially open, thatched building, which has a fireplace for the colder winter nights. There is an outside deck with views of the sunset and the floodlit waterhole. A small swimming pool offers a welcome opportunity to cool off during the heat of the day.

Accommodation

The lodge has 10 tented chalets, built on stilts and set against towering granite formations. The accommodation has been built with the idea of disturbing the environment as little as possible. The chalets are secluded among the rocks, boulders and vegetation and are accessed by a system of wooden walkways; each chalet has its own niche, ensuring peace, privacy and exclusivity. The luxury Meru tents are pitched under steep thatched roofs for shade and the en-suite bathrooms are built around the existing rocks and trees. With its own private deck, bush-style mini-bar and spectacular setting, this is the best way to experience the lush Erongo environment.
